The kangaroo is a marsupial that is native to Australia. They are known for their powerful hind legs, long tails, and pouches where they carry and nurse their young. Kangaroos are well adapted for hopping and can travel long distances at high speeds, with some species capable of reaching speeds of up to 60 km/h (37 mph).

There are four different species of kangaroo, including the Red Kangaroo, Eastern Grey Kangaroo, Western Grey Kangaroo, and the Antilopine Kangaroo. The Red Kangaroo is the largest species and can grow up to 2 metres (6.6 feet) tall, while the smaller species, such as the Eastern Grey Kangaroo, stand at around 1.3 metres (4.3 feet) tall.

Kangaroos are herbivores and mainly feed on grasses, leaves, and shoots. They are known to live in large groups known as mobs and are most active during the early morning and late afternoon. Kangaroos are considered a symbol of Australia and are featured on the country's coat of arms.
